Week 15: Wrap up

Week of 4/25

This week is a flex week in case we get behind earlier in the semester. If we do not need the extra time, we’ll use this week to review the content we covered this semester and possibly cover a fun bonus topic (potentially evolutionary computation, see below).

Machine learning optimization methods are another approach to finding approximate solutions to problems. Evolutionary computation is one that I happen to know a lot about because I do research on it, so I’m presenting it here as an example of this sort of optimization algorithm.
